Weather Radios Available to Sully Residents. Spring will be here before we know it (hopefully) and warmer weather brings a variety of weather hazards.  For Sully residents thinking about getting a weather radio, now is the perfect time.

The City of Sully has about 70 programmable weather radios to give away to Sully residents on a first-come, first-served basis.  The radios can inform residents, through the National Weather Service, of a variety of weather hazards, including severe thunderstorms, tornados and flooding.  A weather radio is a terrific source for comprehensive weather and emergency information when you are indoors; especially during the night when you are sleeping.  Weather radios can sit quietly on your night stand and alert you only when a hazard threatens your area.  It provides the detailed information on location, timing and protective action recommendations that an outdoor siren cannot.  Emergency sirens are outdoor warning systems and are not intended to be heard inside your home.

These weather radios were purchased with funds received from the Community Disaster Grant Program through State of Iowa Homeland Security.  Sully residents may pick up a weather radio at the city office anytime during normal office hours.
