RED ROCK CORRIDOR TO INTERSTATE 80 FEASIBILITY STUDY

i80-study.pngA regional transportation committee has been conducting a feasibility study on an improved route from the Pella/Lake Red Rock area to Interstate 80.  The purpose of this study is to determine if a new highway corridor is needed and to identify the most feasible corridor location.  The geographical area of the study is from Newton to Grinnell on Interstate 80 to areas adjacent to Pella on Highway 163.  These areas are segmented into three potential corridors representing western, northern, and eastern access.  Each of these potential corridor locations have several roadway alignments that are possible, these alignments have not been identified yet   If a new route can be justified, the feasibility study will identify a preferred corridor area to I-80 and it will be carried forward to next phase of the project (Location Study).

Public Information Meetings are scheduled as follows:

Meeting 1 – November 6th, 6 to 8 pm, Pella Public Safety Complex, 614 Main Street, Pella
Meeting 2 – November 13th, 6 to 8 pm, Sully Community Center, 318 6th Avenue, Sully

The purpose of the Public Information Meetings is to share the preliminary Feasibility Study findings with the public and collect feedback before finalizing the Feasibility Study.   The meeting format will be an open house with no formal presentation and the same information will be shared at both meetings.   Due to the regional significance of this project, we would encourage the public to attend one of the information meetings.
