Frigid temperatures and brisk winds couldn’t keep area residents from gathering around the Sully town square for the Fifth Annual Haulin’ In Christmas event on Saturday, Dec. 4. Starting at 4:30 p.m., area businesses opened their doors as hundreds of visitors, young and old, stopped by for a time of fellowship, refreshments, and the chance to win door prizes. Great Western Bank was a hot spot for youngsters as Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus (Marv and Myrna Goodyk) listened to children’s wish lists and handed out goodie bags while the Sully Lions Club hosted a coloring contest. Van Wijk Winery offered free wine tasting from 12 to 4 p.m. and were available for a time of meet-and-greet the entire evening. A constant flow of cold and hungry attendees entered the Sully Community Center to warm up with a hot bowl of soup and a hot sandwich, and top the evening off with a wide variety of cookies and desserts from the Sully Christian School. Mark and Karla De Cook gave carriage rides courtesy of First State Bank of Lynnville and Sully throughout the evening and the lighted parade was the grand finale for the evening’s festivities.
