Lynnville-Sully High School sent three wrestlers to the state tournament Feb. 16-19 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Manny Meyer, Madison Hay, and Kyle Soderblom represented L-S at the elite meet.  

hay_at_state Hay at 145 lb. and a junior made his first state appearance and met up with Waterloo Columbus Catholic senior Taylor Hotek who pinned him in 3:50. In the consolation match, Hay held his ground against 7th-ranked Mike Novotny of Underwood until Novotny got a takedown in the 2nd period and pinned Hay in 3:47.
meyer_at_state Meyer at 135 lb. and a freshman was knocked out of tournament action in the first round 19-2 in 2:23 by seventh-ranked Steven Brockshus of Sibley-Ocheyden followed by 17-6 loss in the consolation match when Hudson's Shay Ingles pinned him in 5:51.


soderblom_at_state Kyle Solderblom at 189 lb. ended his high school wrestling as one of the most successful wrestlers in L-S history. He finished with a career record of 166-21, 126 of those wins by a pin. He placed seventh in his fourth and final state tournament. After winning his first match on Wednesday at state, Soderblom suffered his first loss of the season 5-3 in the quarterfinals against fourth-ranked Jared McCoy of Woodbury Central. In Thursday's consolation match against Chris Bridgeford of Logan-Magnolia, Solderblom dominated and pinned him in 34 seconds. On Friday, Soderblom wrestled Woodbine's Dalton Peterson, the third-ranked wrestler in the weight class.  A 2-1 decision in Peterson's favor was Soderblom's second loss of the whole season.
