"The Magic of Red, White, and Blue" is the theme of the annual Fourth of July Celebration in Sully, Iowa, for 2011. Events will be held Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, July 2, 3, and 4. It takes many people to make it happen and many come back year after year for the traditional celebration in Sully. Everyone loves a parade and it's not too early to plan your parade entry, no pre-registration necessary.

The schedule of events is:

Friday, July 1, 4 p.m.: Deadline to enter Sully 4th of July Photography Contest. 

Saturday, July 2: 8:30 a.m. Tractor Ride registration on the north side of Sully square with departure at 9:00 a.m. to New Sharon, to Pella for lunch, and back to Sully.

Sunday, July 3: 5:30 p.m. Community Coffee at Sully Central Park.

6 p.m. Community Worship at Sully Central Park, take lawn chairs, worship led by Pastor Jerry Morningstar of Sully Community Church and each church will also provide a ministry in music (rain location: Sully Community Church).

9 p.m. or dark Fireworks Display launched in southeast part of Sully (rain date: July 4).

Monday, July 4:7-9:30 a.m. Faithwalkers Breakfast at Sully Community Center, silent auction of L-S Hawk quilt donated by Wilma Rozendaal.

7 a.m.-3 p.m. Photo Contest Display in Sully Community Center.

8 a.m. Morning Coffee and Donuts served by the Garden Thyme Club at the Deep Rock Station.

8-10 a.m. 16th Annual Fun Run, one-mile and 5K, starting and ending on the west side of the Sully square with proceeds benefiting L-S Cross Country Team and Athletic Fund.

9-10 a.m. Registration for the Parade at Sully First Reformed Church, veterans willing to ride a veterans parade entry meet at the Garden Club's Deep Rock Station.

9:45 a.m. Flag Raising and Vander Leest Cannon Firing, southwest corner of the square.

10-11 a.m. Parade through downtown Sully with Grand Marshal, cars, tractors, floats, bikes and trikes, and more.

11 a.m.-2 p.m. wine tasting and construction updates at Van Wijk Winery.

11 a.m.-2 p.m. Free Van Kooten Barrel Train Rides.

11 a.m.-2 p.m. Carnival Games and Inflatables in Central Park sponosred by Inspirations Cildcare and Preschool of Sully.

11 a.m.-2 p.m. Meal served by Sully Lions Club in tent located in central park, tent seating available. All proceeds to the family of Megan Hoogeveen.

11 a.m. Coed Sand Volleyball Tournament at Sully Ballpark, register teams by July 1 by calling Angie Ver Ploeg at 594-3210.

1-3 p.m. Music in the Community Center, take lawn chairs or folding chairs available.

1 p.m. Kids' Water Fight and Area Firefighters Water Fights near the fire station.

1 p.m. Ball Tournament by Southeast Jasper County Church Softball League at both diamonds at Sully Ballpark featuring Sully Christian Reformed Church, Sully First Reformed Church, and two Sully Community Church teams.
