The weather was perfect and a large crowd enjoyed all of the activities held for Sully’s 2011 Fourth of July Celebration themed “The Magic of Red, White, and Blue.” The Freedom Fun Run had another record-breaking year with 338 runners, a record number of 60 participated in the July 2 tractor ride, over 100 entries participated in the parade, and the Lions Club annual lunch, with proceeds going to the Megan Hoogeveen family, served such a large crowd that some food items were depleted.

            The parade overall all winner (shown above) was “Fireworks in H20” by Rod, Dana, Makenzy, and Makayla Rozendaal, Nathan, Steph, Skyler, and Slater Young, and Lucas Jones on drums.

Large Floats

  1. James Gang and Friends who perform Christian country music, on the float were Roy and Dianne James, Mark James and family, Stacey James and family, Dan Cross, and Cheryl Septer.
  2. Bruce Dunsbergen Builders in memory of Bob Collins and Bob and Anna Mae Dunsbergen, “enjoying summer fun,” on the float were Bruce, Lynn, Shannon, and Ellie Dunsbergen; Julie, Daniel, and Laci Keen; Joni and Cheyanne Collins; and Esther Collins.
  3. First State Bank of Lynnville and Sully, celebrating 100 years in 2012.

Small Floats

  1. Brett and Kaylee Maasdam and Corrina and Jordyn Rozendaal, all of Sully.
  2. Grandkids of Eldon and Brenda Nikkel of Sully with Ben Vos on his International Cub Cadet 782 pulling the magical crew of Jessi and Jack Vos of Pella, and Ellie, Annika, Isaac, and Elijah Rynders of Mt. Pleasant.
