winery_2012Van Wijk Winery will be opening soon at 802 4th St. in Sully in the former Sully Community Church building. Owners Roger, Rebecca, Jon, Svetlana, Adam, and Pily Van Wyk are excited to move their business from Pleasant Hill to Sully this fall 2012.

The public is invited to an Open House on Saturday, May 19, from 3-6 p.m. The Van Wyks would love to meet the community and explain the plans so they can continue to follow the construction progress. Wine will be available to sample and purchase on location. In addition, there will be vendors providing music, food, and jewelry items for sample and for sale. There will be more open houses on Wednesday, July 4, and Saturday, Aug. 25.

Construction started in 2011 with a lot of changes taking place both inside and out. The building facade was inspired by 16th-century European castles. The exterior features a new tower topped with crenellations and custom balconettes for the two French doors, a new roof, Pella windows and doors, and Centurion Stone on the entire building. Most recently, new cement steps and a loading dock pad were added. A large deck will be built on the south side of the building and a sidewalk café-style patio on the north side, just outside the Bistro door.

On the inside of the winery, the structural support for flooring, electrical, and plumbing is near completion. Next, ceilings and exterior walls will receive a spray foam application to provide additional sound proofing, followed by drywall. The gift shop and art gallery will begin to take shape and will offer unique gift items. Van Wijk Winery owners are beginning to landscape and continue interior work to show more progress by the July 4 Open House.
