Seven Lynnville-Sully High School district speech contest entries earned Division I ratings to advance to the state competition on Mar. 14, 2015. Seven students on the team brought home seven Division I and one Division II ratings, coached by Mrs. Deb Merrill and Ms. Melinda Hardin. Shown from left, front row, are Mary Chaffin, Naomi Shinkle, Mikayla Smith, Cori Rice; back, Nic Lirio, Kyle Kramer, and Isaac Collins. 

Shinkle, Collins, and Lirio competed in the public address category and earned three Division I ratings. Lirio also competed in spontaneous speaking for his second Division I rating. Division I ratings were earned in interpretive reading poetry by Chaffin and Rice. Kramer earned a Division I rating with expository address that was a speech on sweet sorghum, his family's business.

State speech contest will be Mar. 14 in Cedar Rapids.
