Christmas 2015 Open HouseSeveral Sully businesses hope to attract area residents, young and old, to take part in Christmas festivities and spread holiday cheer on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon. Businesses normally open on Saturdays will hold their regular hours.

Open houses, sweet treats, a visit with Santa, and a freewill donation soup dinner and bake sale are all part of the holiday event. Organizers brought back the Saturday open house event after a successful first year in 2014 when a multitude of area residents gathered for a morning of mingling with others in the Christmas spirit.

A main attraction among the younger crowd is the chance to sit on the lap of Santa Claus. Jolly Old St. Nick will be in the old restored hardware store next to the Sully Post Office where he will listen to youngsters of all ages share their Christmas wish lists. A bag full of tasty treats will be given to each child, courtesy of the Sully Lions Club.

The following businesses are participating in the Christmas event:
  • 1st State Bank
  • Allycuts
  • Casey’s General Store
  • Coffee Cup Cafe
  • Fikse Chiropractic (where you can order Fikse Fudge for Sully Library fundraiser)
  • Hometown Press
  • Key Cooperative Lumber Dept.
  • Key Cooperative NAPA/Service Station
  • Synergy (where Sully Christian School will have free cookie decorating for kids)
  • Sully Community Locker
  • Sully Post Office
  • Sully Telephone Association
  • Van Wijk Winery

To cap off the fun morning, the Faithwalkers church youth group will hold its annual soup dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Gathering Place new addition at Sully First Reformed Church. Chili, chicken, and potato soups, grilled cheese sandwiches, pie, coffee, and juice will be served for freewill donation. The Impact junior high youth group will also be holding a bake sale.

Everyone is invited to any and all the activities. Invite your friends, relatives, and neighbors.
