share_logoStarting May 31, there will be a new program in Sully that you may be interested in: SHARE Iowa, Inc. This program brings people together to build and strengthen community through volunteer service by providing access to good, nutritious food at affordable prices. Several years ago, this program was very successful in Searsboro and Prairie City and now it is back in the area. SHARE Iowa has sites in Newton and Grinnell. Starting May 31, Sully will be a distribution site.

SHARE Iowa is for EVERYONE. There are no age, income, or membership requirements. Living in Sully is not a requirement. The only requirement is that you provide two hours of volunteer service each month. Many area residents already volunteer many more hours coaching, at church, at service organizations, at school, etc. which they can report for this requirement.

SHARE Iowa offers nutritious food packages including meats, grocery items, fresh fruits and vegetables, and even desserts. There are several packages to choose from each month at up to 50 percent off supermarket prices and the pick-up site will be at Sully First Reformed Church one Saturday morning a month. You can pay with cash, check, EBT, or online using Pay Pal, debit card, or credit card.

Think of SHARE Iowa as a food co-op, some foods are name brand and some are private label.

How do you get started with SHARE Iowa? Check out the website www.shareiowa.org for additional information about the program itself. This month, orders are due by May 16 to get your first order to be picked up in Sully on May 31.
